Capturing Moments
THE ARTWORK:
Life is a series of moments, some personal and individualized, some universal, some irrelevant, and some significantly impactful. Daniel’s work aims to capture the beauty of those moments. He wants the viewer to feel the dynamic nature of emotions rolled into the moment and immediately connect with the subject. His thoughtful layers of paint or charcoal help bring to life the layers of complexity in each of life’s moments by playing with light, color, addition, and subtraction.
THE ARTIST:
Daniel’s love of art started as a young child by drawing his favorite superheroes and has grown over the course of his life into fine art. He later became inspired by Renaissance art, specifically Caravaggio. Though his focus is oil paintings, he works in various media including charcoal and digital painting.
Originally from the Atlanta area, he received his BFA in Studio Art from the University of Georgia in 2005. His first career as a software engineer brought him to San Francisco in 2017, where he has since rediscovered his love of creating beautiful artwork. As an avid outdoorsman, Daniel connects with nature by experiencing it firsthand during his hiking and backpacking trips, as well as capturing its beauty in his paintings. Daniel’s greatest artistic passion is his figurative work, where art has served as a vehicle to relate to people in ways that remain elusive in person.
